Child Find

Prep—Secondary—Color—RGB.png

Child Find is a statewide effort by the State Department of Education and the Department of Rehabilitation Services to locate, identify, and evaluate children with disabilities (Part B) and need early intervention service (Part C) as described in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Legacy Schools ensure that all children, ages birth to twenty-one, within it’s district are identified.  The Child Find procedure also applies to children who attend private schools, migrant and homeless children, or children who are wards of the state.

If you suspect a child of having a disability and are in need of special education even though they are advancing from grade to grade, contact Scholar Success at 205-573-0777
